Individual Therapy

Julie is a registered psychologist with community psychology endorsement. Her counselling approach takes into account the many intersections of people’s lives.
She has spent over ten years in the community sector working with survivors of complex trauma, sexual assault, and family violence. This includes many years working within the prison system. She places importance on a person centred, trauma informed approach which focuses on the therapeutic relationship, and interweaves this with various modalities to suit your needs.
These may include Somatic Experiencing (intermediate level trained), Acceptance and Commitment therapy, and EMDR. She also has an interest in strength-based therapy, narrative therapy, and exploring parts work.
She values curiosity, taking the time and space to meet you where you are at, and a collaborative approach.
Current interests: Supporting people who are victim/survivors of sexual assault, working with PTSD, complex trauma, grief and loss, and other trauma related issues, supporting people working in trauma spaces, or related sectors, vicarious trauma, burnout, moral injuries etc.
Julie also enjoys incorporating pop culture into therapy and can often be found drifting off into thoughts about how she would survive the zombie apocalypse.
